# 365 Days of GitHub

> Learnings from 365 days of continuous GitHub contributions. Practical notes and code examples on 365 Days of GitHub by in JS.

I've open sourced about 474 projects since 2008, and been part of larger projects like [Yeoman](https://github.com/yeoman), [Koa.js](https://github.com/koajs), and [git-extras](https://github.com/tj/git-extras).

## Learnings from 365 Days

- Don't over burn yourself!
- Don't get anxious - it's just a streak
- Start as many projects/orgs as you can, collaborate with humans
- It took about 180 days for this to become a part of life
- Make new mistakes in public - that's one of the finest ways to learn
- Accept negative criticism with a smile
- Ask people about their thoughts on IRC, Social Media
- Make sure your projects have good READMEs!
- Names of the repos matter a lot!
- Don't wait for permission to send a PR or start an org
- Thank people who helped you, out loud
- Sometimes whatever you do need not be a success story
- Pickup new stuff, experiment a lot!
- Never stop! Getting burnt is common, but keep contributing
