# Play from command line!

> My favorite command line audio players: mpg123, VLC, and mp3blaster. Practical notes and code examples on Play from command.

I just love playing songs with commands! Here are my top 3:

**1. mpg123**

A simple tool to play mp3 files from shell :)

```bash
$ mpg123 /home/hemanth/Videos/song.mp3

High Performance MPEG 1.0/2.0/2.5 Audio Player for Layers 1, 2 and 3
 version 1.4.3; written and copyright by Michael Hipp and others
 free software (LGPL/GPL) without any warranty but with best wishes

Directory: /home/hemanth/Videos/
Playing MPEG stream 1 of 1: song.mp3 ...
Title:   Theme Of Fashion
Artist:  www.bollymp3.co.in
Album:   Fashion
Year:    2008

```

**2. vlc**

$ cvlc /home/hemanth/Videos/song.mp3
```

**3. mp3blaster**

```bash
$ mp3blaster
```

Output? Oh man, you must install it and run!
